History of the Company:

In late fall of 2001, William (Buddy) Cooper and Lewis Robertson met at the Mexican Restaurant in Martinez, Georgia to discuss the possibilities of buying an asphalt plant. The decision was made to think about it over the Christmas holidays.

Once the holidays were over and after much research, Buddy and Lewis decided they would need one more partner to help support the plant with tonnage. This partner would be Beam Paving and Gregg Beam would represent Beams interest.

Then they decided on a name for the company; Augusta Asphalt and on May 03, 2002 the company was incorporated to become officially Augusta Asphalt, LLC.

The Officers were:

Lewis Robertson - President
Buddy Cooper - Vice President
Gregg Beam - Secretary

Now they would need someone to manage the company. In September of 2002, Danny Bonnell was hired as Vice-President/General Manager. The stage was now set to find an asphalt plant. After days of research and help from Astec Industries, a plant was located in Harrisonburg, Virginia. The plant was then purchased and moved to Augusta, Ga.

On May 16, 2003 Augusta Asphalt, LLC produced its first ton of asphalt. It was sold to Robertson Grading.

On June 01, 2005 Danny Bonnell bought into the company and on January 01, 2006 Beam Paving was bought out by the Board.

In December 0f 2006 William (Buddy) Cooper, the man who had the dream of Augusta Asphalt, passed away from cancer. His son, Brett Cooper now represents CPI’s interest.
